The Huguenot Legacy
- Designers Chloe McKinley
The brief was to produce a typographic piece celebrating the theme of migration, which was interpreted as celebrating the legacy of the Huguenots—nicknamed Englands “First Refugees”.
The piece is a tribute to the craft and skills of this group, highlighting how migrants can shape and change the world. The concept focused on the craft of the Huguenots and how they left their mark on history.
The final piece is 48 pages and 205mm by 300mm. It features three different Colorplan papers and uses french link binding. Hints to 16th and 17th-century practices such as the binding and paper size are offset with modern type and wayfinding icons. The piece honours their achievements and recognises that the world would be a different place without them.
